Shows constantly skipping with low frame rate.
Using a fire stick 4k and shows constantly "skip" or have low frame rate. Commercials seem to be just fine but every channel skips while watching. Internet is 1gb so speed shouldn't be an issue. Any suggestions?

Here you'll be able to set the video quality within Best, Better or Good (app only). Please keep in mind that currently DIRECTV STREAM supports up to 1080p.
Let us know if that helps!

Thanks for the reply, John. All of our devices are currently set to "Best". Is that the recommended setting?

They are on wifi but my internet speed is definitely capable of streaming. No issues with any other streaming services or commercials on DirecTV Stream. Do you think it is the devices? Thanks Lou for taking the time to help!

In this case for a better quality please select "Better" on your devices. Let us know how it goes, we'll keep an eye on this.

Thanks, Jefferson. That may help with the skipping but will that effect the picture quality? Will the video quality still be at 1080?

It sounds like it could be an issue with your wifi signal. You can have a 1GB fiber Internet like I have, but there could be signal loss between your router and the device. Every floor, wall or door you have to go through causes signal loss. I had real weak signal by the time my signal got to the living room and totally dropped out on my back porch. I had to add a wifi extender to the other end of the house and all my weak wifi signals went away. Your Internet can be 1GB at the router on Ethernet (wired), but when it gets converted to wifi it drops and how much depends on your router. And that varies between different wifi devices. My phone gets around 350 mbps throughout most of my house since I added the wifi extender. Before it was around 35 mbps in the same area.
A good way to test the strength is to download the Analiti app, into the device that is giving you problems and run it to see what your signal strength is at your device..

Yes, it will be 1080. If you see that the video quality is reduced, just let us know to take a closer look into this from our end.

There are several channels even with the DTStream box that have the robotic motion. TBS, Comedy Central, Food Network, and Hallmark. Maybe one or two more have the issue. It also appears to could be how a show was filmed. Seinfeld for instance on Comedy Central and TBS does this. You can change all of the settings you want, even on a new Samsung 4K TV and it doesn't help. This is using the DTVStream Box and Roku Streambar or Ultra right next to the router. It appears to be a stream quality issue with specific channels.
As for any other devices like Roku or Firestick, sure wifi signal and the distance from the router come into play. Also the lower cost (Roku Express..etc) streaming devices also have weaker wifi antennas, and if you throw in a bit more distance on those you're not going to get anything higher than 720P to work without the audio being out of sync and whatever else.
