Soft picture on all channels

Have set the 'picture' setting on the device to display up to 4K (have a Samsung 4K TV) but channel picture is 'soft'. By that I mean the picture is not sharp at all. I have the receiver that was sent 'free' back when DTV was testing streaming so could this be the problem (it was made in 2018)? Software says it's up to date.

I also have a Samsung 4k tv and this is how I got a great --much sharper--picture.

In the Dtv Stream box settings ---change your display to 1080p and turn off HDR. On your Samsung tv turn off HDR. My Samsung tv's HDR is called "input signal plus" You can turn off HDR on your Samsung 4k tv by going to its settings---external device manager---input signal plus---untick the hdmi input your Dtv stream box is on

Sounds good but what happens to 4K shows like football. Wouldn't they be in 1080P instead of 4K?

The service does not offer 4K content. Content is delivered only in 1080i or 720p. Your device may upscale the content to 4K.

Thanks for the information. Have followed your recommendations and the picture looks better. Wish they had made it clearer that they don't support 4K though.

The box does support 4k on apps like Netflix, Prime Video etc. There just isn't any programming on live tv that is 4k. You aren't going to find that anywhere except with special programming like the MLB All Star game and the Superbowl.
