startz tv on my direct tv stream

Ipay 11.00 a month for starz on my direct tv acct.   I can get the 2 channels in the guide on direct tv.  I tried to just use the app and it says my acct has lapsed and i need to renew.   I went to the starz web page and saw I could log in thru my tv provider and sign in to activate and use the app.   I tried but this did not work.  I call direct tv and agent said all I can get is the two channels in the dtv stream .

I do not think this is right.   I can drop the add on for 11.00 and pay starz direct for 8.99 a month.  Does anyone have a solution or suggestions for this???

For slightly unclear reasons (but one would assume money), the Starz subscription through DirecTV Stream doesn't include access to the Starz app, just access to on-demand through the DirecTV Stream app.  So, if you are happy with only on-demand access through the Starz app, you named your own solution - drop it as a DirecTV Stream add-on and get it directly from Starz.

If you sub to Starz with Directv, aren't all the Starz shows and movies available thru Dtv Stream on demand? U can find the channels under on demand --then networks.

I don’t have Starz so I’m not in a position to say how complete the DirecTV Stream on-demand library for Starz is, but I’m sure it’s not more complete than Starz’ own on-demand library. And if all you want is on demand, you’ll save a couple of bucks a month going direct to Starz. I’m not sure, but I’d think that there’d be Starz apps for all the devices DirecTV Stream runs on

I just logged in to the starz app with my Directv stream credentials. Works fine for me.

Interesting - that didn’t used to be the case (at least back when it was AT&T TV), and the current “what you get” list doesn’t  show it. But if they’ve added app access for subscribers, that’s great.

Perhaps jtshep1 is just lucky but I am not able to watch any show on Start app.

It says "while you now have access to tons of your favorite stuff, some of our movies and series are still off limits.  For full access, upgrade your account."

FWIW: everything I select gives this message, including movies and shows on  Start/Directv stream's channels today.

@C4you first off it isn't the 'Start' app, it is the STARZ app. This can easily cause confusion because there is indeed a local subchannel named START TV. This is just to let you know so you don't get confused in the future when dealing with STARZ.

Second, the reason for that error is that the TV EVERYWHERE functionality via DIRECTV STREAM credentials will NOT include all of the perks and movies that a general STARZ subscription would, hence the reason for 'upgrading your account.' Despite it telling you to upgrade, there isn't really a way to do so with a DIRECTV STREAM subscription. You would have to pay separately for STARZ and access it from the app. I agree it could be annoying, but at least you'll get what you pay for.
