Strobe like effect when accessing menus and changing channels

There's a serious strobe like effect when accessing the settings menu and also when changing channels. The effect is so significant that it's difficult to see the needed information on the menus.

Are you using the DIRECTV STREAM device (C71KW or Gemini Air)? Otherwise, what streaming device are you using?

I have a C71KW-400. It's connected into my stereo receiver for surround sound via HDMI. Network cable from the box to the router. I only just noticed this. The programming picture is fine, it's just that it gets messed up when I access the settings menu
