Voice Remote With DirecTv Streaming App?

Is there a voice remote that’s compatible with the DirecTv streaming app? Specifically want to be able to change channels using the voice command. I have a 1 year old Sony with Google tv and I can’t make the voice control work. I’ve googled it and it also looks like Roku voice remotes don’t work. I do NOT want to use the Gemini box since it’s “line of sight” and I don’t want the box sitting out. Any options?

None. Channel numbers are only supported using the proprietary box and associated.

That’s a bummer as I’ve been told the proprietary box and remote are “line of sight”. I haven’t received my “included” boxes yet so I haven’t had a chance to test it but if I can’t hide the box behind the tv, I don’t want to use the boxes in the main part of the house.

I have Gemini devices and a Gemini Air device.  Gemini Air devices are hidden behind the TV like a Roku Stick but the older Gemini (Osprey device) is usually put in sight as they are bigger and harder to hide.  But they can be hidden behind the TV.  I have in the past used command strips to attach it to the back of my TV so that it was hidden and it worked just fine from behind my TV.

Thanks for the info about the Gemini boxes. Is there any difference in performance between the Gemini box and Gemini Air?

For the most part they are exactly the same the only difference I can see is that the Gemini Air processes slightly faster, and it has more memory for storage

Only real difference between the Air and box is the box has an ethernet cable connection. Air is only wifi. Also--I have my box behind my tv and it works well. It's works with bluetooth. So does the Air
