Volume Goes Up & Down on DirecTV Stream

I am having trouble with the volume going up and down on all channels on DirecTV Stream. Am using the TV's speakers. Does anyone have a remedy? There was a similar question in the Forums from four years ago, but no solution was offered.

What streaming device(s) are you using?

What channel(s)?

I have not had this problem on any of my streaming devices (DirecTV Stream boxes, Rokus, FireStick, iPad App, PC).

Problem right now is with the DirecTV Stream box on all channels that I watch. Haven't explored yet if the problem exists with the app (Android) or Roku.

How is the DirecTV Stream box connected to your TV?

Have you tried changing the Stream box audio settings between "stereo" and "surround" to see which might work better? When using TV speakers, the best setting is likely "Stereo".

The box is connected to HDMI Port 1 with the cable that was supplied with the box. Audio is already set at "Stereo Only."

You might try a different HDMI cable and/or a different HDMI INPUT on your TV. Of course, it's possible that the box is defective.

I started noticing the problem on Tuesday and was hoping it would clear up on its own. Now it's downright annoying. I have started the reset process as you recommended and will monitor the situation. In the meantime, I will check the situation with the app on my Roku and Android devices and get back to you. Thanks.

Does your tv have an "auto volume" setting you can use? My Samsung tv does. If the problem is really bad you might try to restart the Dtv stream box. I noticed after the last update the volume got a little higher, which is nice, but I'm not noticing a big difference between channels.

The volume continues to go up and down while watching DirecTV Stream when viewing with the box @DIRECTVhelp .  Is it possible that the box is defective? As I indicated in my last post, I would monitor the situation using both the box and the app. On Thursday evening I watched more than 3 hours of TV using the app through Roku. There was not one instance of the volume going up and down during the entire period. Last night, I watched using the box. The volume started fluctuating almost immediately and kept up through another 2 hours of viewing. And this was on the same TV. The evidence would suggest that there is nothing wrong with the TV and that problem lies with the box. Please let me know the procedure for obtaining a replacement box. Thank you.

Mine does the same thing on both my boxes. It’s reacting like an AGC is on. It usually drops after loud rise in the program audio. It over adjusts for the peak then eventually returns to a normal level until another loud peak hits again.

Does this happen while watching a show the volume going up and down or is this happening like when it goes from the show you are watching to commercials and the commercials get loud then it gets quiet again when the show comes back on?

During the program content.

Mine happened during program content, too. It was a defective box. Insist that DirecTV furnish you with a replacement. That solved my problem.
