"We had an issue retrieving this content."
I am new to Directv stream and have 2 Roku television (TCL and Hisense) in addition to Express+ 4K devices model 3941 with internet download speed 87Mbps. I have not been able to log into Directv stream on any of my Roku device/tvs, only able to log in through my laptop or mobile apps. All other apps work on all of the Roku devices. I have spoken with Directv tech support 2x as well as Roku tech support once with no one able to remedy the issue. I am on the verge of just canceling the service and looking elsewhere. Whenever I attempt to log in I just get a blue screen with a running circle until the message appears "We had an issue retrieving this content. We were unable to load this content. Please give us a moment, and try again."

@hankem1 there doesn't appear to be a fix yet. The issue had to be escalated but apparently we are not the only customers having this experience.

Thanks for the response. I just spent 45 min with tech support as well. They said it is an outage btw Roku and direct tv?? I was very hesitant to switch to Direct tv. This is not helping!

I am having the same issue, I just got there service about 4 days ago. I have spent 2 days on the phone with them. We have tried everything possible, removing the app and reinstalling, clearing the cache and still nothing. They have to reach out to the back office for assistance and still nothing.
I was told it should be working by Christmas, guess what it's still not working. I am wondering did i make a bad mistake by switching to them.

I just canceled - went back to Hulu Live. I had issues with them before and was hoping it was different with streaming, but they also don't have a local contract with CBS where I live so they told me to get a antennae. Nope!

DirecTV app works fine on my Samsung TV
I had an older Insignia TV in the bedroom
1. Got a Roku - exact same error message mentioned above with the DirecTV Stream app - “We had an issue retrieving this content”. Calls to both Roku and DirecTV - neither could solve it
2. Got an Amazon Fire Stick. Was able to get to the DirecTV guide, but couldn’t actually watch a show. Was advised by DirecTV that my TV was probably too old
3. Got a brand new Roku TV. SAME ERROR MESSAGE “We had an issue retrieving this content”.
4. For a laugh, I plugged the Fire Stick into the Roku TV. Same thing - could get to the guide, select a show, but couldn’t play it.
So my question: does the DirecTV stream app actually work?

Terrible technical blunders for such a huge tech company!

Yes, the service works perfectly. Been a subscriber for over 8 years. My first question would be, "are you a previous DirecTV or AT&T subscriber"? If so, are you using the same credentials for each service?

I have tried to stream in three different Roku devices and get the same message on all three. It works fine on my Apple TV devices but not on Roku. Obviously and issue between the two companies. And I am a new DirecTV streaming account user

I am not a previous DirecTV or AT&T scriber (that I know of). I am a long-time customer of AT&T mobile service and a recent customer of AT&T fiber internet service.

@Chershberger Well are you using the same credentials as the mobile or Internet service? Then I would log into your DirecTV Stream account and change the credentials. You have nothing to losebychanging.

I am a new subscriber. I am having the same issues as others are having and its sad the Directtv dev team have not resolved this issues. This is a blunder on their part. The other service providers apps did not initially worked perfectly but they resolved their issues and now they work on Roku TV's. However, Directtv seems to feel its not worth the effort which is unfortunate. I may have to switch back as I am not going to pay monthly for their devices in order to stream. You might as well stick a dish on the back of my house.
