Why cant you set a recording for xtra time?

For many years now, on Xfinity cable (formerly comcast) when you select to record a televised event, e.g., a football game, political event, academy awards show, etc., you could always select to record xtra time, i.e., continue recording on the same channel for 15min, 30min, 1 hr, or more. This is VERY important, because games almost always run long (even if they dont go into overtime), political events start late and end late...Academy Award shows ALWAYS run long. But with DirecTV Stream, you can rarely choose to record a show/event/game past the program end time. Thus you loose the end of the game, political event, or show. The  channels air the event until it is over, but your recording stops. I am tired of missing the end of programs due to not being able to set ANY recording for extra time! Please fix this Directv Stream by adding the function/option to select extended recording time for any show! I have even missed the end of regular TV shows because the Network got off schedule by a minute or two. Cable solved this problem years ago, by allowing one to select extended time on any recording. What is wrong with Directv Stream?

Sports events have "auto extend"...I have the St Louis Cardinals on series recording and every game has been automatically extended. I've seen award shows auto extend as well. This year's Oscars auto extended for me.

This option is BADLY NEEDED!!!!  I've missed the ending of almost every NASCAR race I've recorded the past 3 months.  Get this fixed DirectTv!!!!  Ridiculous!!!

The simple fix is recording the program set to air after NASCAR is over. This way, if NASCAR extends, you automatically record the next program set to air for ~1-3 hours.

Yeah, I’ve figured out that I have to set it to record whatever is on after.  It seems like back when I had cable with DVR like TIVO this wasn’t an issue.   Crazy how technology in this area is getting worse.  Seems like a few lines of code would fix this but I’m no programmer.
