DirecTV on laptop Issues

Why does it seem every time I want to watch something on my laptop through the DirecTV site and program guide that the video player it uses crashes after 5 seconds of playing over and over again. I can never get it not to crash, Is there some sort of video player update it needs? What is the issue? This feature I have deemed pretty much useless because I get never get it to work correctly more then 5 seconds. No it is not my internet speed as I have the fastest internet that cable provides in my area. Can DirecTV update to a video player that works?!

The DIRECTV Video Guard player has always been an issue for many people on laptop. In general, these amenities were always meant for tablets and phones. Back in the old days, the website would work great for this, but now DIRECTV has definitely changed gears to improve more on the mobile and tablet experience.

You can still watch the on-demand and live stream of each channel through a handy feature called TV Everywhere. This enables the customer to use their DIRECTV credentials to gain access to each network's online service. However, this is not a feature on all networks, only some. Give it a try, search for the channel online and sign in via TV Provider and choose DIRECTV.

DirecTV is not listed as a provider that uses TV Everywhere. I went to their website and most well known TV providers are not on drop down list TV Everywhere has provided including DirectTV, so not sure how your using it with DirecTV.

If you still have issues after using the right browser, please look for the DIRECTV player in your downloads, delete it, and follow one more time the prompts to install the player after accessing our website.

Microsoft Edge Version 99.0.1150.55 (Official build) (64-bit)

Chrome is up to date
Version 99.0.4844.84 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Seemed to be working with Edge this morning, do you have any idea what the download name/file would be for the DirecTV player? That's like trying to find a needle in a haystack if I ever wanted to do the uninstall and then reinstall.

Thanks for the updates about your browser, @Rdaudie. We're happy to read it's working with Edge.

The name of the file should appear like "DIRECTV-Player" or something similar. It might also appear as "VideoGuard.13.0."

So this still isn't working, I got it to work on edge once at my house, I travel for work constantly, it' super frustrating that this feature does not work 95% of the time. I also brought it up to my camp and it didn't work on either browser, reinstalled the player (which DirecTV should just ditch and figure something else to use that is more reliable) and still didn't work, runs for like 10 seconds, get an error and stops the feed, reload, runs for 10 seconds and stops the feed. I feel like it will only work when I am on the home network of my DirecTV receiver and when I'm on any other network it refuses to work. For how much I and other people pay a month you would think DirecTV would invest in something better if they are going to include this feature with their service.

Please share with us a picture of the error you are getting when you try to watch the service through a computer. Thanks!
