Can I get rid of all the colored commercials that are now on the guide screen. They are annoying to me and surely not needed or wanted!!

Nope. DTV as well as other providers buy the guide from a third party. I assume the channels pay the guide maker to put them in.

There’s nothing there that interests you? If you highlight it then you can press info on your remote and then you can watch the trailer. I love it!

DTV only buys ad space on the channels to promote their service just like any other company. DTV doesn't sell ad space.
