Is there a cost to DirectV streaming?

Yes, you can access the app on your phone as well as your Roku device. There is No extra fee or one-time charge involved. 

Do be aware that NOT EVERY channel is included. Some local channels will be unavailable while you are away, channels without TV EVERYWHERE functionality won’t show up in the Guide and are not stream able, you cannot view any recordings, etc.

Starz, yes. Sports channel, probably not but there may be a separate app for that channel. For example, for me to stream my regional sports network channel, I need the Bally Sports app.

I have DirecTV satellite service. I'm not able to watch any live stream channels online. A few weeks ago I was able to watch many channels. Now I can only get channel 215. When I click on other channels , I'm told live stream is not available and then I'm asked if I want to upgrade. What is going on?

@melm49 You don't need DTV streaming to use the app. If you are going to be away for more then a month you may want to suspend the DTV sat account but I assume that you will lose the streaming option if you do.

@CradMI There was a post here that DTV may launch an updated app on Jan 23 that may fix these bugs.

Any satellite customers have a DTV/Osprey Stream Box and try logging in with their credentials? Curious since the recent DTV app consolidation allows satellite customers to have more flexibility and perform things previously off limits (i.e. Airplay to TV, etc).

DirecTV Satellite and DirecTV Stream are two different services and each requires its own subscription.
