Not all TVs are automatically compatible, as their hardware requirements dictate whether they function properly. If the TV doesn't program with the remote, you may need to use the TV remote to control volume and power. But, we've sent you a DM for us to further check your equipment setup. I have the same TV and I use the app. It works great. I also have had the DirecTV stream box hooked to the TV and had no problems controlling the TV with the remote.
