Reception Problem on Certain Channels, new option

Recently I have seen a message when tuning to certain channels (nothing to do with bad weather).  Message is something like "Problems receiving signal, you can switch to "streaming" via Wifi" and then accepting this option brings the channel in just fine.  Anyone know more of this development?   Thank you.

This has been a feature for a while now. If your satellite signal is lost, the DVR can stream content from certain channels, but not all. How's your weather? If weather isn't the issue, then most likely your dish needs realignment.

More info on that feature is available here;

https://www.directv.com/support/satellite/article/KM1501435/

If you are experiencing bad weather, error 771 shows up on HD channels and extremely bad weather knocks out your signal completely (no SD channels either).

To check signal strength, go to Menu, Settings, Satellite, and View Signal Strength. Note down the 101 signal and press the ‘+’ button to be sent to 99 (ca). Note these signals down as well (takes a moment to populate for all transponders) and perform the same thing for 99 (cb), 103 (ca), and 103 (cb).

Hello @westway We want you to enjoy your favorite programming at its fullest.

Thanks for the prompt response, @detuch254

Please try by following the link was previously shared about how to keep watching with broadband option and let us know if you need further assistance.

In case you're experiencing weather issues, please try by testing your receiver connections.

Thank you Detuch and DTHelp.  This clears it up.  Was not aware of fallback to streaming, and yes the dish alignment was sorely in need of adjustment.

I had 5 appts with Direct TV that were canceled, rescheduled and no shows. I have spent hours on the phone and waiting for repaimen that are not employees of Direct TV.

I complained repeatedly and heard too many excuses and promises that never happened.

I have broadband when satellite signal lost. Not weather related. Dish needs to be adjusted or after 9 years replaced.

My biggest disappointment is not being able to record on broadband and watch commercial free programming.

Direct TV customer support and technical support is awful.

I’ve had no problems with Directv until recently. I’m in an RV full time. Was all over the Midwest to the east. No problems until recently. My dish goes up automatically finds and locks in the satellite signal. But I’m not getting a couple channels. 242 and 241. I’ve dropped the dish and raised again several times to no avail. I’ve looked at strengths. 101° is good above 90%, 99°(ca) is less than 35%, 99(cab) is less than 24%, 99°(s) is. Showing not acquired, 103°(s) is the same, 103°(ca) is less than 33%, 103(cb) is above 65%. No bad weather, clear line in the sky.

what could the problem be?

Those signal levels on 99 and 103 are way too low. They should be up in the 80-90s. Perhaps your dish isn't properly aiming itself? What brand/model dish do you have?

If you are continually getting a low signal after repeaking the dish, it could be related to a bad LNB, receiver, or bent dish.

Not sure of the model, but it’s a Weingard satellite dish.

Winegard Trav'ler?  That's the only Winegard dish that can receive all of the DirecTV satellites. You might contact Winegard for additional support.

Talked to Winegard. They had me put it in manual mode in satellite 101. I’m getting all channels now. I’ll leave it there until I move to a different RV spot and return to multi sat mode. For now I’m good. Thank you all.
