Remote works on the tv but not on the receiver anymore

I have the new (post-2014) genie remote, not the big universal one. A couple days ago I was watching tv and at first it was working as normal, but then the tv wasn't responding to the remote and the receiver was. I was able to change the channel but not the volume. So I tried a number of things to fix the issue (I think the real problem was that I had accidentally blocked the tv by putting too much stuff in front of it), and in the process now I got it to work on the tv, but the receiver doesn't respond. So I can now turn the tv on and off and change volume, but I can't change the channel.

I tried resetting the receiver, and using the mute plus enter. I even tried the 981 factory reset. Nothing works. I think the problem could be that when I was trying to get the remote to work on the tv, I switched it from RF to IR and maybe that's why the receiver doesn't respond now.
