Starting recorded programs from the beginning

I have used DirecTV, Sprectum, and to a lesser extent Dish.  DirecTV is the most user friendly and advanced.  I do have one problem with DirecTV - I hate that if you restart a recorded show from, say the midpoint, and you push the rewind button, the show is started over from the beginning.  This is infuriating, because I then have to fast forward all the way back to where I was.  This feature is not even necessary because if you use the menu it only takes 4 button presses on the remote to start the show from the beginning.  I would think there are many DirecTV users who feel the same way I do about this very annoying "go to beginning" function.

It would also be nice if DirecTV would add slow-motion function.  Sprectum does have slow-motion operation.
