Using Digital Optical via Direct TV and older Denon receiver
HI all!
I have an LG screen, Genie Box, and older Denon receiver with no HDMI. I bought a Digital Optical cable to run the audio through my receiver- decent B and W speakers vs. the LG audio. I have watched many videos today and can't get it working. I have it plugged into the receiver "Opti-out" and on the receiver I see "TV" and then it shows Digital as if it's seeing it.
I tried hooking to the TV and then the Genie Box. I can't get the sound to come out of the speakers. I tried choosing Optical on the LG settings for audio and still nothing.
I hope this makes sense and can get some help. Thanks!

Thanks all. I got it! I had it in the Genie, but in the wrong OPT in the receiver and input on the receiver. Hit the right one and all is well. Appreciate it!

You'll want to hook the Genie's Optical OUT directly to an Optical INPUT on your Denon. You don't want to route it through your TV.

Did you remove the plastic cap from both ends of the optical cable?
