@kc59harley2 try to reinstall the Video Guard player that DIRECTV website uses. Also, you can try turning off ad-blockers, antivirus, refreshing cookies and cache, etc.

I've done this in the past and I even opened a trouble with DirecTV to which they have not called back. This is over a month ago. What browsers do they support for web online streaming? Where is the Video Guard player download located?
Just seems to me that it shouldn't be rocket science nor should you have to go through a bunch of resets etc. just to make something play.

Hi @kc59harley2 , we want to make sure that everything works properly at the moment of streaming your favorites channels.
Let us know what is the browser you are currently using, and if you already tried to clear caches and cookies.
We'll be waiting for your reply.

I've tried both Safari and Chrome. Both will stream some of the sports channels like ESPN and action sports but that's only 5 or 6 channels. Nothing in 200, 400 or 500 will stream. So its not a browser issue if I can stream those sports channels. I can tell you the direct channel numbers if you really need that. But I'd like to get this resolved.
I have the iPad DirecTV app and I can stream with that but I'd like to be able to do it with a browser when I'm working at my desk.

We appreciate the information, @kc59harley
Let's work on a fix together.
Please try to reinstall the video player through the DIRECTV website at the moment of trying to stream content. Keep the browser open until the installation ends, you should receive a confirmation message. Then refresh the page. If everything works properly, the live stream will start.
Let us know the results.

Can you direct me to where on the website that player is available to download? I know that when I initially tried to play the content over a month ago it automatically downloaded and I think I had to manually click on the file to install.
Also if you know where on a Mac that file is located (installed), I'll remove it first before reinstalling.

@kc59harley, we'll guide you to find the DIRECTV player file on your Mac.
-The DIRECTV_Player.dmg file is in your Downloads folder, there you can open it.
-Find the VideoGuard.13.0.dmg file in your Downloads folder and open it
-Double-click DIRECTV_Player.pkg to start installation
-Double-click VideoGuard.13.0.pkg to start installation
-When installation is complete, refresh the browser window and/or restart the browser.
Once this is done, confirm to us if it worked.

Got it, I understand. I have a quick question, just to make sure everything has been covered. Did you try deleting cookies and cache? Please let me know it this step changed anything. I'll keep investigating from my end. I am here to solve this.

I'm using only Safari and yes I deleted cache and cookies for the DirecTV website. Doing that allowed my local channels to show up but due to legal obligations I can't view those. However I did try channels in 200 and 500 and nothing. Those sports channels I mentioned earlier I could watch but only about 5 channels.

@kc59harley2 thank you for the information!
Let's check all the options to fix this. We will use Google Chrome for this.
1. First it will be necessary to verify that you have the latest version of Google chrome.
Once you verify this, please open your browser
2. Sign out of directv.com.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Sign back in to directv.com and try again (Once you try to stream, you will receive the option to download the Video Player, please download it)
If this doesn't work, please follow these steps:
-You can temporarily turn off the ‘Safe Browsing’ security feature:
-Three dots in upper right corner > Settings > Security & Privacy (in the left menu) > Security > No protection.
-Try again to do the install, and then go back to Settings and re-enable ‘Standard protection’ or ‘Enhanced protection’ (based on your preference)

It never asks to install anything.
I did the turning off safe browsing and try watching channel 204 and it says the same thing shows an error "Im sorry we ran into an error, please restart the player... but if I select channel 206 which is ESPN Sportscenter it plays video... So that tells me the player is there etc.

@kc59harley2 we appreciate the details.
In order for us to look further into this and escalate the issue, we will need to gather all the possible information about Chrome browser.
To do that, let me share with you the steps to capture the logs from Chrome browser:
1. On Google Chrome, click on the three dots from the upper-right corner of the web browser.
2. Then, click on More tools > Developer Tools. The Developer Tools panel opens.
3. From the Developer panel, select the Console tab.
4. Click on the Cog icon to open the Console settings.
5. From the Console settings, click on the Preserve log checkbox and Log XMLHttpRequests.
6. Next, click on the Clear button. This is to start clean when reporting an issue.
7. Try to repeat the issue you have observed. The network activity will be recorded.
8. Once you have repeated the issue, right-click on the Console panel. A context menu will open.
9. From the context-menu, click on the Save as menu.
Please share with us the screenshots of the results you get. That information is important to find the best resolution.
