Watching newly recorded shows on mobile device when away without updating the recorded list at home first.

I want to watch shows that I recorded on my DVR on a mobile device while I'm away from home. I downloaded the DirecTV app and clicked on Playlist in the menu, but I only see recorded shows when I was at home last, I don't see any of the shows that were recorded since I've been gone.  Do you have to be at home to refresh the list or can you access newly recorded shows since you've been away from home?

You have to download them to the mobile device as DTV no longer supports streaming from the Genie outside of your home network.

You can log into your account to watch the available channels with a PC/laptop or use the app when outside of the home network.

Thanks for your response to my question.  I am away on business a lot for long periods of time and continue to pay for my Directv service, I should be able to watch my recorded shows while away. Why does Directv make it so you have to find the shows you typically watch, stream them and then record rather than just be able to watch the newly recorded shows (while you've been away) from the dvr on the mobile device?

Because it is technically much more difficult to take recordings that are stored in a device inside your home, and stream them out of your Internet connection to your device over the Internet than it is to (a) stream them to a device inside your home, and (b) stream content from on-demand servers to your away-from-home device.

If you believe that watching your recorded content away from home is your God-given right, then you'll have to find another product that supports your view.  DIRECTV STREAM may come closer, because those recordings are stored on the cloud; you just have a limit of 3 streams outside of the home.

The short answer is DTV couldn't get it to work reliably so they dropped it.

DTV sat has never changed their name.  AT&T TV was  a separate streaming service from AT&T and now called DTV streaming.

DTV has to mount a dish to get service.
