Android TV app
I don’t see it anywhere else on here, but there is an app for DTVS in the Google Play store now on my Shield. Maybe the articles detailing its absence could be updated.

There are "mods", who are here basically to keep things under control, delete offensive posts, and things like that. I am not aware of them ever modifying a user post - I don't know if they have that power, and I'd think there are potentially some legal ramifications of them modifying someone's words (as opposed to just removing the whole post). The "reps" (DIRECTVhelp) you sometimes see are from Support, though I question how useful they generally are - they aren't going to modify posts either.
As far as notifying the availability of the new app - while I haven't seen anything here, they have put big announcements into all of the existing apps, so that if you use the service (on any device, as best I can tell), you will be presented with the info.

Unfortunately, we are just customers like you on a public forum. We don’t work for DIRECTV STREAM so therefore we have no control over anything. You should report it by calling or reaching out on the social media platforms.

If by "articles" you mean all of the (hundreds over the years) posts in the forums asking/complaining about the lack of an Android TV app - there is no way those will all be updated. However, rather than just announcing it only in some "newsletter" that I had never heard of before, it would have been nice for DirecTV to have posted (and pinned) something in the forums announcing the availability - if they did, I didn't see it.

Yes, that’s all I meant, the posts here on the forum. Does no one moderate this forum? I thought the occasional presence of CS reps meant that they would correct or add to posts. Anyway, no biggie, just thought like you that someone would make the apps availability known to users here. Thanks for responding.

We have a Sony Android TV and have been Tivo users for years and finally decided to try direct tv stream cause of issues with spectrum in tuning adapters with channels not coming in. We just signed up for a 5-day trial We were told that only worked on Samsung TVs but when I downloaded to my phone there was an option to download on other devices and it showed my TV and it downloaded.
Do we have to have at least one box? We have 3 tvs and a couple roku's and a Chromecast. One TV doesn't have anything connected and I really want a box back there with a remote. I guess I'm used to Tivo and having a TiVo remote. I don't want to use Roku remote and even using our Sony tv remote i didn't know how to maneuver and get to where I wanted to go.
We have 5 days to decide if we're keeping this. One of our TVs out of the three is 4K does the DirecTV stream box put out 4K content like our Tivo bolt did? And do you guys like having the box with the remote pros or cons? I did a chat with somebody and they said we could get refurb boxes for $49.99 so we could get three of those for the cost of one new one practically which is $120. And they told me it has a year warranty.
We're keeping our Spectrum internet We have no problems with it and I don't want to change all my emails and stuff but this should still work fine right? Thanks!

You do not need any of their branded devices. The DirecTV Stream device (sometimes called "osprey" here) is just another streaming device (like a Roku), albeit one that they customized for the service. The customization makes it work more like cable - it comes up in the service, the remote has a numeric keypad which allows you to enter channel numbers and has other buttons that give you shortcuts to features allowing you to avoid (mostly) having to use menus and such, etc. So you may find it preferable to use that rather than using a Roku.
The device does do 4K, but only for other apps - currently the DirecTV Stream service itself doesn't do 4K because none of the networks they offer has 4K content. This could change, and when the networks offer 4K to DirecTV, they'll need to decide if that will get passed through (there are internet bandwidth issues to worry about).
Yes, keeping Spectrum internet isn't an issue - the DirecTV Stream service runs over any internet service. However, if they have data caps, it could be a problem. Streaming video consumes a lot of data (on the order of 3GB per hour for HD), so even a !TB cap could be an issue if you have multiple TVs used for hours per day.

@Jrandomuser Thanks for answering my questions this is all new to me. We have unlimited internet no data caps and we get 300mbs I think it is. They say we pay for 200 but get 300 I don't know.
But I haven't called to cancel my cable yet or Tivo we still have Tivo recording stuff and want to give it a week or so and make sure we are going to like and keep this. I know their will be things that we will miss from Tivo but now that we have ordered boxes I am hoping to like it even better. Last night I ordered 3 renewed boxes one for each TV. I just want it's own remote and box like Tivo. But yeah it's going to cost us more money but the headaches we've been having with Tuning Adapters it's crazy. And I am not calling back a 5th time to say hey where is my Tuning Adapter that I have been told since 10/31 will be here in a couple days LOL!

You should get a Dtv Stream box. It comes with a remote with numbers you can use to change channels. The remote also has shortcut buttons for the guide, dvr list, record, previous channel and has a voice search button. The box also has google play store for your other apps--so it's an all in once device. I switched from cable/tivo last year and the Dtv Stream box gives you a cable like experience. Fast forward and rewind work better as well. You can get a refurbished one for 49.99 with a one year warranty from Dtv.

@Ludwick577 Thanks so much! I have been really looking for people who had Tivo and switched. We just ordered 3 boxes last night for $49.99 each. I want the box and remote since I was so used to Tivo and I didn't want to use Roku or app on tv. The app is on our main TV now Sony Bravia 4K smart TV but I dont like using the TV remote. I only use that for apps like Disney Plus or Paramount Plus we get free with Walmart Plus. Lots of times I would just watch Netflix and Prime through Tivo though cause of the remote.
Can you answer a few more questions since you came from Tivo also?
If my husband is recording a game can or lets say an award show can you not set it to extra minutes?
I wanted to record this Hallmark movie last night I think it had started and I didn't know if I just hit record if it would record from the beginning than I saw where it said start from beginning so I clicked it and then hit record but when I got home it said partial and was 8 minutes off. It's on again so I am recording it again so it's ok but just wondered how it worked. Something else recorded and said partial and was off by the same amount of time I think. But we liked seeing start from the beginning when we clicked on this movie the other night.
So can you go somewhere and view all your season passes or do I just bookmark them all. Some shows I have on season pass at Tivo aren't showing up here I asked someone else in another thread is it because their done for the season.
And my husband has a season pass on Tivo for AXS TV concert series I don't see that as an option here or we have these one Hallmark series of movies called Martha's Vineyard and it record all of them in that series can you do that here or record lets say all movies with a certain actor?
And last so all recordings delete after 9 months it tells me under my Library I thought I was told or read 90 days. Only think we will really miss is the auto skip on Tivo. We're not used to having all this On Demand Features which most people got with Spectrum DVR but their is no reason to record something on demand right just live TV stuff?
Hope it's ok I posted those questions I am still going through the threads here and reading. We are only 2 days into having this and we like it so far but I really want the boxes and remotes and can't wait to get them. Wish their was a local place I could just go pick them up at here in town. Hope that's all my questions. We almost got this a while back but for some reason a channel we wanted wasn't on here but I think now it is forgot which one either Hallamrk or AXS one. But anyway thanks again.

Most sports shows have "auto extend" I've seen awards shows do it too but you can't add extra time to recordings---yet. U can also just record the shows on after the events you want to watch just in case. Look on the "on demand" section--networks---Hallmark is listed there --movies are listed there if you missed setting a recording. As I've stated a couple of times before--you can bookmark series and the list shows up under my library--2nd row down. Do the bookmark from the show page--then hit view all episodes --"bookmark series" Recordings stay in the cloud for 9 months. For shows that aren't on now---you just have to wait for them to come on to set them up.

Ok thanks! I'm understanding now. I think went to my library when I hit record a series I just hit bookmark next to it I don't think it said Bookmark series or my showed different episodes but I'll check again might of been cause it's a weekly thing and I hit new episodes only. But I do see in Library DVR Recordings and Bookmarks so thanks. I just have to get used to it and am used to Tivo and seeing all my season passes but bookmarks is similar. Thanks!

If you go to a show page it will say "bookmark" In order for a bookmark series to happen you need to hit "view all episodes" on that show page...then hit "bookmark series"
