Apple TV remote (click mode) arrow key trouble

I have noticed recently, arrow key behavior has changed. I have always used click mode on my Apple TV remote (just like the behavior) and right arrow always fast forward the video buffer (and left arrow rewinds the buffer). The down arrow would bring up programming information for the current channel). Now right/left chang le channels (very frustrating when wanting to move through the buffer to find the channel has changed). The down arrow doesn’t bring up programming information. 
I have updated my tvOS, deleted the DIRECTV app (and cache), reinstalled the app and have the same behavior with the arrow keys. In any event this behavior is super frustrating and I have left DIRECTV for another streaming service that has the expected arrow key behavior. Honestly, I like DIRECTV’s guide and programming selection and would like to return. I just can’t handle the arrow key behavior. 
I reached out to chat support and they acknowledged a bug and fix that will be coming. However no timetable for the fix. 
is there any truth to this being a known bug? If so, is it known when the bug will be fixed?
