Basketball games cut short

We scheduled many NCAA basketball games to be recorded.  While most games were complete, some ran long and were cut off.  This was particularly frustrating with very close games.  Previously, when recording with a Tivo DVR, we could add an interval of time to the program to assure it all recorded-usually 30-60 minutes extra.  Can we do that with DirecTV's DVR?

Yes, @kmgraziano. To record a full game, choose the next program to extend the recording session. Note that extended sports recordings depend on third-party service availability and vary by package, channel subscriptions, and billing region. Blackout restrictions apply. @kmgraziano the right answer to your question is: "No, you can't add padding when you set up a recording like you used to be able to do with TiVo."

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue with cloud DVRs with all services.

John's answer is a workaround. It's better than nothing but not as good as it it was actually possible to add custom paddings to recordings.

It seems to be such a basic feature and yet it's not offered. Hopefully, DirecTV will set the right standard and provide this feature eventually.

I like DirecTV but the minute that I find out another provider starts offering this feature, I won't have time to blink that I will have already switched to that provider. 😆
