Broadcast provider has restricted access to this program 

Appears on my screen. What does this mean?

That means that whatever is being broadcast at that time does not have permission to for that program to be broadcast over streaming devices.  That happens at times. It (Edited per community guidelines) because regular cable and satellite services do not have this issue.

I sometimes get that message for sports blackouts.  I live in the NYC area.  Buffalo Sabres hockey games air on MSG Network of Western NY.  I can watch that channel for most of the time, but whenever there is a live Sabres game airing I get that message and the game is blacked out because the Sabres are not a local team for the NYC area.
