There are several channels at the top of the home screen. can you make these your favorites? can you get them to stop changing? can you freeze the ones you want there?

I don't think so. The app has very limited customization available.

Those are recent channels. The same channels that popup if you press the up button on the remote on live tv (or the down can't remember what the firestick app does)
