Chromecast with Google TV
Just purchased a brand new Chromecast (the very latest model) after seeing on the DirecTV Stream site that it supports Google Chromecast version 2 or higher. Naturally I assumed that the newest one was at least version 2, but more than likely higher.
And yet there is no app available for DirecTV Stream. Huh??
DirecTV needs to either amend that incorrect information or release a version of the app that runs on Chromecast with Google TV.
You’re no longer part of AT&T. It’s time that you stop acting like them with deceptive advertising.

So it's 2022. Is the app for Google TV available yet? If not, please let us know when it will be released. Thank you.

But my experience is to never believe anything a support rep says about what is "coming" (be it features, apps, or content). I seriously doubt they would know that sort of info and if they did I doubt they'd be allowed to divulge it. It seems they just tend to say whatever they think will make the customer happy, whether there is any validity to it or not.

I'm absolutely agree with you. Support has a task to say clients something to make them calm) they are far from developers and don't know many information, if something happens they must to apply to someone who linked with them. Generally thus situations show how any company works.

Yeah I'm about a month away from switching to YouTubeTV I've held on long enough hoping for a GoogletTV app. I fully believe they have a contract signed with Samsung

I use a sideloaded app too. It does work well. So well that Direct tv should just release it as an official supported app for google tv. It is becoming a pain to side load the app every time an update comes out. I am close to giving up on direct tv and switching too.

@oBananas It used to be even side loaded apps would update when there was a new version in google play store. Guess not anymore. The easiest way to update it is using "downloader" app-- then use its browser to go to apk mirror's website. Downloader will install it as well. I used to use my android phone to download the apk---then send to my android tv using an app-- then a file explorer to install it. Now I just have one step.

Where is the DirecTV Stream app on Google TV? I thought from previous comments as far back as 10 months ago you were going to add it. However, I don't see it. Please clarify.

There is no “you” here. We are just other customers, with the occasional pop in from some truly useless Support agents. No one here knows anything about future developments - anything anyone posts about specific “new things coming” is somewhere between hopes and wild rumors.
Unless/until there is an official formal announcement of an app for Google TV (which likely wouldn’t happen before one is actually released) any speculation that one is coming is just speculation.

Yea. I don't think direct tv has any plans to support it ever. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/the-ultimate-at-t-tv-and-fire-tv-apk-repository-dtv-no-longer-updated.3854154/ just use that link and side load it.
