Developing regional sports channels

Do you have any idea what will happen with regional sports ?

Early reports are that in my area, the Braves, Hawks and all teams in the south and southeast packages will have separate packages and the cost will greatly exceed the current charge of 15.99.

Will Directv make these plans optional instead of automatic on most plans ?

Hey, @DR0719. Some MLB teams are moving to new channels before Opening Day, but DIRECTV remains committed to local fans and will work with MLB, the Braves, the Hawks, other teams involved, and other media partners to keep them connected. It does seem very likely that DirecTV will add those channels.

In my area, the Guardians had their own channel last year and the Reds are getting their own this years. The Guardians' channel was launched on opening day, so there's still plenty of time for you to get your channels.

Don't expect these channels to show anything other than the live pregame, live games, live postgame and maybe 1-2 replays of games. Pregame and postgame will most likely be very short.

I think for the Guardians' home opener, pregame was 30 minutes. For other home games, pregame was maybe 15 minutes. Postgame was 10 minutes or so. Away games had no pregame.
