Direct TV not recording what I want
I want to record NBC Nightly News on my local NBC channel 6 at 5:30PM. But Direct TV is refusing to record that, and instead it is recording a program on NBC News Now channel 4004 at 9PM. Both the channel and the time are wrong.
When I watch what is recorded, at about 7PM, it's useless day old news.
This needs to be fixed. Let me select the channel I want to record!
I am using the Gemini device.

- Cancel the series: Go to My Library > Upcoming Recordings, select the show, and choose Cancel Series.
- Use the Guide: Open your Guide and scroll to your local NBC Channel 6 at 5:30 PM.
- Record once: Highlight the show, press Record (or the ... button), and select Record Once.

Are you saying that I need to "record once" every day?

You don't have to set it to record every single day—sorry for the mix-up! What's happening is a glitch where the system prioritizes the streaming version because both the local and national feeds have identical show names. You can easily fix this by forcing the DVR to stick to your local station. Just cancel the current series in your library, open your Guide, and go to Channel 6 at 5:30 PM. Highlight the show there, hit Record Series, and you're good to go. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

@DIRECTVhelp If you would let subscribers select the channel to record from when settings up "series" recordings---this wouldn't happen. People have been requesting this feature for a few years now. (Directv Satellite has this option)

I have experienced this same problem with the NBC Nightly News - it just started doing this a day or two ago. I've tried the suggested solution - and when I ask the DVR to record the local channel, as a series, it only does it for the upcoming 3 or 4 days (I've tried multiple times, the result is a varying...short...number of days, never more than 4). What do I need to do to get the DVR to record this program out the full 276 days (or whatever the limit is)???

@bauerm It's a glitch with the Fast Channels. It will resolve on it's own eventually. I've seen the glitch several times and takes about a week to stop. Until they let customers choose the channel when setting up a series recording---just have to live with it.

I'm keeping an eye on our scheduled recordings to see how/when this resolves itself. Interesting - the NBC Nightly News program that didn't want to do the daily recording is now in the daily schedule starting next Saturday. For some reason, it skipped this Friday - I can add that manually. But another odd thing popped up! The Today show is now scheduled to record 9 or 10 times a day starting 7/24 on "Today All Day" (we have it scheduled to record "only new" on the NBC affiliate every day, and that has been working properly...until this popped up!). Directv, can you explain this???
