Direct TV Stream App installation
I have a brend new Sony x85J TV. There is no option within Google play store or the Sony app to download Direct TV Stream app. In fact it gives me a notification of "not supported by this TV" Please help me get this app installed. Thanks

Did you ever check for supported devices? Sony has never been supported. You need to use an external streaming device if you still want to use the service.

For reasons that have never been revealed, they don't offer an Android TV app. However, if you feel comfortable trying it, some people have reported success sideloading the FireTV version of the app on Android TV devices. If you want to try this, you can google for more info.

Apkmirror has the version you can sideload. Does your tv have "downloader" in its app store? If so, you can use it to download the apk and it also will install it for you. Best thing you can do, though, is get their Dtv Stream box. Beats using any of the apps/devices....much more user friendly.

You arent alone, I was flabbergasted that there is no android tv app. No, I didnt check because its such a no brainer, every streaming service has an android tv app since its probably the most popular platform since it comes on so many devices now.
I have nvidia shield's on every tv in the house and now I have to come up with some other solution, beyond frustrating.
This kind of (Edited per community guidelines) only flies for now because DirectTV is the only streaming service that has my regional sports network Yes, otherwise I would have cancelled when I realized this issue.
Please add android tv support, everyone else has it so there is no "security" excuse or the other reasons I have seen floated.
