Directv Stream/Roku remote down arrow no longer triggers guide

Pressing DOWN on the roku remote use to bring up the guide.  However that stopped working as of this morning.  Directv App Build 3750102 Version 3.34.

Now to get to the guide you have to hit the Back button, then select guide (multiple button presses).

On Twitter/X, direcTV is actually suggesting to use platforms other than Roku - thats a deal breaker for this Day Zero Subscriber...

IMHO, this response although frustrating is reasonable. There may have been  under the hood changes made at Roku  not visible to us users that make a simple roll back more difficult than one might expect.

BTW, I've tried out YouTube and they have improved their interface since last year but IMHO it's not perfect either as far as I am concerned .... and then there are "family training demands" of moving to a new platform (spouse has used DTVstream for a year and although things have changed and will continue to change she has a basic level of comfort with the menus...... switching platforms would be taking us to another planet).

So my two cents is "let them work"; it's a positive development that ATT/DTT_S (or whatever their corporate configuration is these days) is at least responding.

Agree Tracerrx

Bought a Samsung to start this service and was clunky and wife suggested Ruko so using on 5 TV's. 3 in Ohio and 2 in Florida. Be real difficult for me to "switch" to another device/platform. Be easier to switch to another service TBH....

The suggestion to use other devices sounds like it's going to take a while, whatever they decide to do. I agree with everyone who questioned why this was rolled out so unexpectedly. You don't need hindsight to see that a beta release that let users give feedback before the final version was released would have been the better way to go.

@bruiser410 so when you press the down arrow it goes directly to the guide?

@traccerrx It goes to a horizontal row of currently on channels or another row below that of last watched channels which include recordings, and then more options if you continue clicking the down arrow.

They now made the down button go to the menu and placed a guide button at the top.  Still multiple buttons to get to the guide.

Also, when you hit the Back button while in the menu, it will ask if you want to exit, if you then hit Back again, it will go back to the menu. Once more and Back to the channel you were on.  I guess someone who never uses this designes it.  Extremely amateur.

Displaying the menu when you start the application is just dumb.  If you're watching something in your living room, turn it off and turn on your bedroom TV, you want it to start playing on the channel you were just watching, not a menu.  If I wanted to go to the menu, I would.

Also, noticed another just dumb item.  For a number of seconds after using the guide and selecting a channel, the Back button will go directly to the guide, not the menu.  After a set number of seconds watching a channel, the Back button takes you to the Menu.

Have no idea what the thought there is. They seem to not know anything in the way of design, simplicity or user interfaces.  Strange.

Why don't you just make the down button go directly to the guide?  When you released this update, you decided the down button would be unused so why not just make it go directly to the guide since you now decided to use it again?  Just nuts.

And make the guide wrap around when FAVORITES are turned on.  This design flaw has been there since the beginning of the application.

D_tvsucks, I agree on the favorites not wrapping around on the guide but that may be asking to much of them. Who ever is leading on the interface seems to be clueless, to say at the least. I would be happy just to go back ,what 10 days now? !
