DVR on Stream

I've recorded different movies to watch later some of which were on Epix which I no longer have. I try and play the movie but it says "this channel is not part of your package" what is the point of having a DVR and recording things if I can't watch them later? Kind of looks like that's a point in YoutubeTV's favor. If this were not the stream service I feel the DVR would still perform ad expected, why is this not the case for stream? Prices are relatively the same, aren't they?

Hello @Farnwalt, thanks for reaching us.

Let's help clear things up. When a subscription like Epix is removed from your DIRECTV STREAM service, its content is no longer available since it is attached to the subscription itself. This is the reason why the recordings are not working anymore.

If you add this subscription to EPIX again before the recording(s) expire and are removed from the DVR Recordings, you can expect this:

  • You will again be able to view the recorded program(s) until they expire.
  • The number of days a recording is stored, does not start over when adding the channel back in package.
  • The expiration date is determined from the day the program was recorded.

Please let us know if you have additional questions, we'll be here for you.
