Hello, having all the app features such as the recording working as expected is a must. Our team is always ready to help. Follow these steps to set the recording to new episodes
• Go to DIRECTV and select Guide.
• Find the show you want to record.
• Pick REC to add the title or series to your DVR recordings.
• Select All Episodes or New Episodes.

That seems to be the only option. No series editor or manager in the DirecTV streaming app.

That is correct. They have not implemented the option for the streaming service. Probably never will.
