Feature Request: Customizable 4-Screen Multiview ("Build Your Own Multiview")
Hi DIRECTV Team and Community,
I’m writing to request that DIRECTV develop a fully customizable, user-selected multiview feature that allows subscribers to pick up to 4 live streams simultaneously across any channels in their lineup.
While the existing pre-packaged Mix Channels and curated sports views are a step in the right direction, they are far too rigid. Being locked into fixed 4-screen grids limits the feature’s usefulness, especially for live sports and breaking news.
The Competition Has Moved Ahead
Competitors have set the industry standard for multiview flexibility:
YouTube TV: Offers a "Build Your Multiview" tool across sports, news, and live events, allowing viewers to choose any 2 to 4 eligible games or broadcasts on the air.
ESPN App & Fubo: Allow users to build custom multi-screen layouts (quad-box, 1-large/3-small, side-by-side) on devices like Apple TV and streaming boxes.
Why Preselected Mix Channels Fall Short
Conflicting Regional & Out-of-Market Games: If my local team is playing on a Regional Sports Network (RSN) while national games air across ESPN, Fox, or CBS, pre-configured feeds rarely bundle those specific broadcasts together.
No Control Over the Lineup: Pre-packaged sports or news mixes often include matches or networks viewers don't follow, wasting 1 to 2 quadrants on screens no one is watching.
Modern Hardware Can Handle It: Between capable streaming boxes (Apple TV 4K, Roku Ultra, Gemini, Fire TV Cube) and server-side stitching technologies, custom multiview pipelines are proven and widely deployed.
DIRECTV Stream holds the crown for video bitrate and live picture quality, but the inability to mix and match multi-screen viewing is a major competitive blind spot on busy game days.
Giving subscribers the freedom to select any 2, 3, or 4 live channels from their active package to create an on-the-fly quad-box would be a massive quality-of-life upgrade.
Is server-side or client-side custom multiview on the product roadmap for DIRECTV Stream? Community members, please upvote if you want the freedom to pick your own 4 screens!

It's an often-requested feature. Not holding my breath.
