Free unlimited dvr

According to multiple sources, including the directv stream website, new customers will be receiving unlimited dvr for no extra charge. Will us existing customers who are currently paying the $10 a month for it be receiving it for free as well?

Note also that "unlimited" is a misnomer. Their server will only hold recordings for 90-days.

I just spoke with a Dtv Stream rep on the phone. He told me the "free" unlimited DVR is also going to be added to all packages for existing customers. He added free unlimited dvr to my package.

Right. The "free unlimited DVR" is a promo for new customers only.

Nope. It is for existing customers as well (not sure about grandfathered) The agent told me they are in the process of adding it to existing customers' accounts in the next 2 days. They already added it to mine. There are also posts on reddit from other existing accounts with it added today.

The fine print on the website says:

"Online only. New DIRECTV STREAM customers only. Offer not available to DIRECTV and U-verse customer switching to DIRECTV STREAM. Data connection req'd. Recording expire after 90 days. In a series recording, max 30 episodes stored (oldest deleted first which may be less than 90 days). Restr's apply."

My online account statement still shows the $10 add-on charge for "unlimited hours of cloud DVR".

I just chat online and rep said it was a 30 day trial. At end of chat I was asked if chat was satisfactory  or unsatisfactory I hit unsatisfactory   
2 minutes late I got a call from them. Rep said all customers getting it added to account automatically. Said will get a email. 
I also noticed on my acct about 10 days ago got a $10 refund. Doesn’t say what for.

I subscribed to DirecTV Stream last month. So not a "new customer", but pretty close.

I’m a 3 week customer. The rep said all existing will be switched to new unlimited. Should be changed in next few days will get a email.  
I’ve just noticed dvr recordings are down.

Well they should have thought this out BEFORE they advertised for new customers.  I've spent the WHOLE day today on the phone with different reps (one in retention and a few in tech support) and no one said existing customers would get the same break.

I signed up a few months ago and of course paid $10 for UNLIMITED DVR because who can use only 20 hours?  So today after HOURS on the phone it was suggested for me to just start a new account.  I did.  Had to create a new e-mail address, etc. etc.  Lots of time spent on this project.

So to make a long story even longer, my DTV BOX absolutely will NOT let me sign out of the old account and into the new.  I can on one of my Roku's but not on the box that I paid in full for.  Just got off the phone with yet another tech rep and after more than an another hour on the phone, the box will not let me out of the other account.

I'm sooooo frustrated that there are no words.  Any suggestions?

I can't even SIGN OUT of the stupid box.  Everytime I SIGN OUT, immediately it just signs me back in by itself.

Can you give me specific instructions how to de-register it?  I cannot find it on the website and tech spt people apparently don't know about it.  I'm logged into my account as we're speaking and cannot find what you're talking about.  Thx

I think you can go to your account details---manage stream device and toggle off auto sign in.
