Getting started with Directv Stream while continuing to use Uverse for a short period - overlapping for learning purposes

We are long time users of ATT Uverse. We have just signed up with Directv Stream. The Uverse plan will remain until the end of the month thereby providing a period of transition and learning. We will be using Directv Stream device/remote. We also use the Uverse remote which turns on the TV. Once we have Directv Stream set up on our TV, at that time we will in fact have two remote controls, either one can turn on the TV.

Before jumping into setting up Directv Stream, and getting a ball of twine into a knot, I am trying to think through the process once Directv Stream remote is operational.

Both the Directv Stream remote and the Uverse remote can turn on the TV and turn the TV off.

If I use the Uverse remote to turn on the TV and watch a few programs then want to watch on Directv Stream, do I use the Uverse remote to turn the TV off, then switch to the Directv Stream remote to turn the TV back on to watch programs on Directv Stream?

 Thank you.

@downthehill73 it really shouldn't matter what remote you use to turn the TV on and off. They should both work for whatever you're doing, as long as they are programmed to control the TV's volume and power properly. That being said, you can use either remote to turn the TV on and off, and it doesn't matter which content is being played.

To watch either you would just switch the HDMI input as one of the HDMI inputs is used for DIRECTV STREAM and the other HDMI is used for your U-verse cable box.
