Green Screen On DirecTV App

Im not receiving any picture on my DirecTV app. I've done all the recommended actions with no luck. It is android 10, uninstalled/reinstalled, cleared cache multiple times.

Anyone have any ideas what else I can try? Thanks!

What device specifically? Do you have DIRECTV STREAM or DIRECTV satellite? Which app are you using (name of it)? Do you receive picture at all on any channels?

It's a moto g7 supra android version 10. I have DirecTV stream, using the DirecTV app. Everything works account wise on every other device we have except my phone. No picture, just a pixelated green screen.

Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like Motorola has issues with the app.  Is there a setting that can be changed to make it work??

Hi @mnesslein,  let's work to get this fixed.

Let's meet in a Direct Message, so we can take a closer look into the error with the DIRECTV App. Please check your DIRECTV Message Inbox (It's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

We'll be ready to step in.

Nope....kind of ridiculous a company of this size can't get their app to work with a Motorola phone.

This thread is a little old, but I'm going to post anyway. I also have a Moto G7 that used to work fine with DirectTV android app.  First problem was live stream started showing the pixelated green screen, but record/replay video still worked fine. Next recorded video went pixelated green screen too. I contacted DirecTV several times with no results. Finally in Feb of 2023 they told me DirecTV had "made a change some time ago that made Motorola phones no longer work." Since my problem was progressive, I think my phone may have started running low on memory which could have caused the problem. Although, all my other video services (such as Netflix) continued to work fine. I canceled DirecTV in May of 2023. I am currently (Sep 2023) getting a new Motorola phone (because they have all the features I want at the best price). I am also restarting my DirecTV service. I am hoping DirecTV app will work on the new phone with 200 GB of open internal memory! I'll know in about a week. I'm also hoping the DirecTV Customer Support people did not know what they were talking about and that the problem was really due to lack of internal phone memory or still being on Android 10.

Update to my post above. I restarted DirecTV today...and of course I still have green pixelated video on my phone app. However, I thought of a workaround to test...forget the DirecTV phone app and just login to DirecTV on a Chrome browser on my phone. (Note: DirecTV specifies the Chrome browser for compatibility.) And guess what, THIS WORKS PERFECTLY...no video issues whatsoever! It's a workaround, but it allows me to use my phone again to access sporting events, etc. So I think this should work for anyone who is having the green screen video problem. Now the big question is, having talked to DirecTV Customer Service and Tech Support people several times, why did NO ONE at DirecTV think to offer this as a workaround to try??? Maybe if they see this post, they'll add it to their Tech Support help scripts, instead of just telling you that you're out of luck if you own a Motorola phone...unbelievable!  I also suspect the DirecTV app will start working when I get my new 2023 Motorola phone later this week with updated Android OS and current generation video support...I'll post another update about that after I test it out. In the meantime, you should login to DirecTV via Chrome and enjoy being able to use your reliable old Moto G7 phone again for DirecTV viewing.

My final post regarding the green pixelated screen problem to follow up on my posts above:

I have activated my new Motorola Moto g Stylus 2023 phone. As I expected, DirecTV video again works perfectly. So, DirecTV has NOT dropped support for Motorola phones, as there customer service rep told me. I suspect my old Moto G7 started to malfunction as it ran low on internal memory. Also, as time went on, DirecTV may have dropped support for older phone video hardware. In any case, it's amazing how many problems fix themselves when you get a new phone with Android 13, newest video hardware, and 256G of internal memory (instead of 32G with about 1G remaining).  Hope this info is helpful to others.
