Have sound but no video when watching from Safari web browser.

When I am using Mac mini 2018 with safari web browser.  I am able to stream the audio of a program, but I get no video.  I was able to use chrome, but that is not the browser I would like to use.  I have check by using different HDMI cables, user different ports and adapters, but I get the same problem.  I was able to airplay, use a lightning to HDMI dongle, from my phone to Mac mini and I get both sound and video.  But not using the safari web browser.

Does it work using incognito mode? Have any extensions, blockers, VPN, etc loaded? Try disabling.

Does not.  Same behavior.  Sound, but no video.

Hi @carterbunch, we're here to help with your video issues.

Have you checked whether Safari has the latest version available? The DIRECTV STREAM service works on version 13 and above.
Please, make sure you are not using incognito mode, blockers or VPN because they will affect the service. By the way, thanks for your insight @bcbsncjlj!.

Quick question, what device are you trying to connect your Mac mini to?.

Safari - Version 15.2 (17612.3.6.1.6)

Mac mini - Version 12.1 (21C52)

No incognito mode, no vpn, no blockers.

Get Sound, but no video.

Chrome web browser works, but that is not my main browser.

I am going to bet that you are missing something loaded using Safari. I have seen this to many times in the past with many users. Usually the standard extension are disable when you execute the service using incognito mode. But some extensions, app, blockers, etc just do not release there memory via incognito mode. I suggest you really investigate what is taking place using Safari.

Did anyone figure this one... I am running Safari 16.3 from macOS Ventura 13.2.1. Same deal ..no video..only audio.  Tried all the above.  Works in Chrome without any effort.  No Extentions, blockers, etc.  just raw browser out of the box.

Like others would like to use my main browser and not have to download / install another one just for one purpose.

Thanks

Yes. You need to have HMDI cable connected monitor.  I had one svga and one hdmi. When I replaced the svga with hdmi. It started working.

Sorry @carterbunch ... that's not the issue.  Please start at the top if desired.  This is DirecTV Streaming ... cannot see the video feed via Safari on Mac... everything is as the requirement state.. but, nothing video wise... only audio.

It seems to be well documented issue but, NO DirecTV solution.  Works fine in Chrome and Firefox without any tweaks.  Likely caused by Apple (Ventura or Safari itself) but, we need a fix!

Has it ever worked with Safari? When did it stop working? Any updates or upgrades? I can't comment on Safari, but the issue is similar to a PC with Chrome when an extension, blocker, VPN, etc. prevents the video from displaying. Been many issues like this in the past by others. Since you said Chrome works, then I would assume something particular to Safari is causing the issue.

Nope in my case..  always used firefox but, was moving off to the native Safari and cleaning off applications not needing .. just happen to try DTV stream in safari on my MacOs 13.3 Ventura MacBook Pro with all the latest patches / etc.  nothing fancy … no extensions or pop up blockers .. default settings / nothing changed intentionally in settings for any reason.   Just not been use Safari on it.. now that I want to move to it.. I’m like the above users … video doesn’t work!   Audio only!

I’m open to try something new, typical things have not worked!

I can ensure you it is something unique to your environment. Thousands of subscribers are using the service Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. If it's working for you with Chrome but not Safari you need to re-evaluate your setup.

Not an Apple user. PC user with Chrome and Firefox. If these are new versions that you have Safari 16.3 it may just be the 2 are out of sync. I can tell you that they have been lots of issues with iPads and iOS 16.3 reported oin the past.
