HBO max errors on my DIRECTV streaming device

HBO max errors on my DIRECTV streaming device. I cannot pause or flip between the HBO Max app and any other app on the DIRECTV streaming device without HBO Max giving me error messages. This is incredibly annoying! I don’t have this issue on any of my other non DIRECTV streaming devices (Roku, fire stick). Having to restart my device… And I mean going to settings and restarting ( not just turning the box from and on) the whole device is crazy. It is making this DIRECTV streaming device on usable for us. Anybody else having this experience? If so what are you doing about it? I’m ready to send this device back to AT&T.

Please try the following steps for common pauses with your HBO MAX App, so we we can reach all the options to fix your error inconveniences:

1. Turn off or unplug the device to refresh.
2. Unplug the power from your network devices (modem, router, etc.).
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power to your modem and wait for it to connect to the internet (about a minute).
5. Reconnect the power to your router and wait for it to connect to the internet.
6. Turn on the DIRECTV STREAM device and see if the problem is resolved.

What error message?

Have you tried resetting your DirecTV Stream box?

Yes I have tried resetting my box. That is the only way I can get HBO Max up and running again. But I have to do that every time I try to use HBO Max. If I pause it I get the error message that says oops this contact is no longer available. And then I will get a message saying try exiting and re-entering the app. The only way to do that is to reset the box. It’s just not a convenient way to watch programming.

Just to confirm, did you restart your device by pressing and releasing the red button on the side of your equipment? Please also let us know when this issue started to happen.

On top of that, to further investigate about what you're experiencing, let's ensure you have the latest software version on your DIRECTV STREAM device by following the steps listed here.

My HBO max is working fine. I just used it. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Yes, I have. It does work. It’s just that if you leave the HBO Max app to go to DIRECTV and then try to go back you get error messages. Additionally if I pause HBO Max and then try to play my program

Thank you, the solution does work….but only temporarily. I really don’t want to have to “restart” the box every time I watch HBOMax

Try the red button reset on the side of the Dtv stream box.
