What is your local channel market? What streaming device (s) are you using? If you have more than one streaming device, can you watch HD local channels on one but not the other? Other than local channels, do any other channels look SD?
What HDTV specifically? If it’s a Samsung Smart TV, you’ll be happier with an actual streaming device like a Fire Stick, Roku, Apple TV, or the DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box which is faster and has a nice remote.
That should work fine. What channels specifically don’t show in HD? Actually, DIRECTV STREAM only offers 720p/1080i channels in their Guide. So, I don’t know why you aren’t seeing local channels in HD. They ‘ARE’ by default in HD. That would mean a problem with your internet connection.
Dtv Stream channels are 99 percent 720/1080. Only a few channels, like MTV classic, are SD. What setting do you have on in the app settings--preferences. There are 3 choices. Best, Better, Good. Best is chosen by default. Not sure if the Roku app has those preferences.
Where in the app do I find the settings I have looked at both the TV settings and the Preferences in the DirecTV stream preferences and do not have anywhere to get the 720/1080
Hello @JC15171517, We want you to get a flawless video experience.
In order to get the best video quality, let's try to Change your settings for DIRECTV STREAM. Let's keep in mind that the video quality depends on the broadcaster, and it may vary on different channels.
Please let us know if you need an extra hand, or you have any other question we may assist you with.
There isn't anywhere in the app to change to 720/1080. All the channels, except for a few like MTV classic are already in HD without you having to change a setting. Why do you think you aren't getting HD? If your pic is blurry, etc that is an issue with your internet speed.
Thanks for the additional info, @JC15171517. We'd like to look deeper into this sitaution for you.
Let's meet in a Direct Message to take a closer look on this. Please check your DIRECTV Message Inbox (It's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).
