HD Quality of Directv Stream

I have read professional reviews of the DirecTV Stream service which state this as to picture quality:   "A representative from DirecTV Stream stated that the service uses an adaptive bitrate that maxes out at HD."

That is not clear and maxing out at HD is not the same as HD - and seems like in many instances it may NOT max out at HD.  If we have our giant 65 inch HD TVs at home to watch this, shouldn't we be sent an HD formatted picture?   Is the DirectTV Stream picture 720P; 1080i; 1080P or what?

Can you get a clear answer?   The "adaptive bitrate" things seems like marketing terms to confuse the customer and not give an accurate picture (no pun intended) of what is going on here.

Thanks.

The clear answer is it DEPENDS on the channel. Some broadcast on DIRECTV STREAM in 720p while others are 1080i. Additionally, SD-only channels like Boomerang (298) for example are 480p if I am not mistaken. Your TV will NOT ‘max out’ at a specific resolution. It’s either 720p or 1080i.

From the DirecTV rep's comment about "adaptive bitrate" though, it appears that even if a station broadcasts in 720p, that may or may not be what you actually see on your glorious 65 inch TV on the receiving end, depending on how busy their servers are?

In other words, it is NOT the TV maxing out, it is what DirecTV sends to your TV that may max out -- right?
