How to Get & Troubleshoot the DIRECTV App on Samsung TVs

Whether you’re installing for the first time or fixing a hiccup, start here.

Before You Begin

  • Samsung TV software 3.0+
  • DIRECTV App v5.0.82 or higher for Live TV
  • Connect over home Wi‑Fi for at‑home streaming benefits

Install / Reinstall

  • Press Home to open Smart Hub
  • Search DIRECTV → Install → Open the app

Recommended Settings

  • Auto‑Update: Apps → Settings → turn Auto‑Update On
  • Storage: keep ~100MB free (delete unused apps if needed)

Quick Fixes (try in order)

  • Close and reopen the DIRECTV App
  • Check for app/TV software updates
  • Uninstall and reinstall the DIRECTV App
  • Restart your TV

Verify Network

  • Settings → Network → Network Status; look for 3 dots between TV → router → internet. An X indicates a connection issue—reconnect Wi‑Fi or reboot your router.
