How to record...

Let's say I want to record a movie that is already an hour in. I can choose to start from beginning but I want to watch later. I can't record this time from the start. I'll ask google to search for the movie but it will only show the current running and not any future times. How can I record the whole movie?

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out to us on your recording concern for help. Please follow these steps:

From DIRECTV device
While watching a program or from within the guide:

-Press the overflow button (…) on your DIRECTV remote to record.

- Select OK to record once or Record Series.

- Once the recording completes, the title is added to your DVR Playlist. Press LIST to access.

That above is for series. You cannot record a movie from the beginning that's currently airing (you can only restart it - if the channel allows it). What you can do is record from the live point. Once your recording shows on the list, enter into the movie details and there will be "Ways to watch" - if you're lucky then you will have a VOD option where you will be able to watch from the beginning. Otherwise, get rid of your movie recording, search for that specific movie, and Record - this will trigger a recording in the future, and you will get the whole thing.

It seems bizarre that the recording starts only from the live point even though there may be another hour of saved program in the buffer.  I'm guessing the buffer is local to the Gemini and the recording is obviously in the cloud, but it sure is frustrating.
