How to stop automatic changing to Spanish while watching HBO channels

While watching movies on HBO channels, Directv Stream app on Samsung tv freezes, and comes back on after a few seconds but language is changed to Spanish. We have good Wi-Fi strength at tv and no other problems with any other streaming app. Only DTV Stream has this problem. We have to manually go into the “I” setting and switch language back to Default (English). Have deleted and reinstalled app to no avail. This has been happening for several weeks.

Today I saw that the Direct TV Stream App had been updated as of Dec 8 2021. Thinking maybe issues resolved. Nope same sound issues and going black periodically. Still a crappy app. Don't know why the updated app. Did not fix snything. Ready to change to something else.

My DirecTV Stream app was just updated to ver. 3.24.30201.  The update has actually worsened the freezing and blackout frequency of occurrence. The spontaneous language switching seems to have been eliminated. But the program (movie) interruptions with freezing and total picture and sound blackouts are worse, yet still random and unpredictable. Sometimes it’s gone 1/2 hour without freezing but that’s rare.

2020 Samsung Frame here and agree with other posters that this started when the DirectTV Stream app launch earlier this year. Frequent black screen, spinning wheel and switching to Spanish (seems to only be with a handful of channels: HBO, Fox, etc).

I agree it could be either a Samsung App Store issue or a DirectTV Stream app issue but either way, DirectTV Stream needs to fix if they’re going to list the Frame and other top of the line Samsung TVs as “compatible”. I’m giving them until the end of the year to fix or I’m moving to another provider.

@jrgray86 It did not launch. It was renamed from AT&T TV Now. Just a rebranding from the spin off of DirecTV and AT&T TV Now. As has been discussed all over the boards, the app has never been up to par. Get a life and go with an external device if you still want to use the service or seek another alternative.

I read these posts mocking the users here and admonishing them to buy another third party device in order to watch the DTV Stream service that they've paid for on a smart TV that they also paid for.

Yet none of these Einsteins have even tried to explain why every other 3rd Party streaming app works on the Samsung SmarTV platform except the DTV app.  How come all the other streaming content companies can field an app that works on Samsung but DTV cannot?

Full disclosure - I have only tried 11 other streaming apps on my Samsung. They all worked.  Of those I only subscribed to 5 pay services & 2 free services, beyond the free trial period.   But I think mine is fairly representative of the major movie / tv streaming content providers.. (DirecTV Stream, Prime Video, HBO Max, Hulu, Tubi, Disney+, YouTube, Pluto, Peacock). All of those except DTV works without freezing or any other disruptive issues.  The Samsung also includes a free "Samsung TV" app that provides scores of channels of free content (movies and TV programs and music), and the Samsung TV app also works fine without any disruptive video or audio issues.

I agree. But if one is not willing to use an external streaming device the they deserve what they got. It's ridiculous to stay with a service on a platform that has no proven support. I have been with the service since conception (even the original beta testing team before the app was released) and they have never broadcast any app fix to the forum. If a solution ever gets resolved it is only known by the few who uncovered the fix and noted here in the forum.

I think this thread has run its course. Until DirecTV & Samsung fix the app folks will continue to have these issues. While getting an external streaming device is a workaround, some folks clearly don't want to do that. To each his/her own.
