How to stop automatic changing to Spanish while watching HBO channels
While watching movies on HBO channels, Directv Stream app on Samsung tv freezes, and comes back on after a few seconds but language is changed to Spanish. We have good Wi-Fi strength at tv and no other problems with any other streaming app. Only DTV Stream has this problem. We have to manually go into the “I” setting and switch language back to Default (English). Have deleted and reinstalled app to no avail. This has been happening for several weeks.

I am experiencing this same issue. Samsung TV. Apple TV box. 1 GB internet. No problems with any other streaming service.

Same issue here but while watching NFL on fox, then cbs, then nbc. This app kind of sucks in my opinion. Guide is difficult to use and is slow to respond. Using on Samsung TV and a Roku Premium in the other room. I still have a bit of time left on the Spectrum app and it is night and day better. I just think ATT/DirectTV have a lot of kinks to work out on this product before it is worth it.

Oh my gosh, I'm not the only one whose channels keep changing to Spanish, buffering with the gray wheel and randomly blacking out?

I have noticed that the freeze problem has now become a total blackout for up to 30 seconds, occurring approximately every 10 to 15 minutes on any movie channel that I have watched, and some 30 minute and 60 minute program channels. Then when the video & audio pop back in, the language has changed to "alternative" (Spanish) **if** that language is available for the particular program/movie being watched. This is I think the strangest and most annoying bug I have ever encountered with the AT&T TV Now / DirecTV Stream app.

Last night I continued to have the same issues after a clean install of the DirecTV app. I might mention I even installed it on an external thumb drive, making sure the TV's memory wasn't burdened.
Today, I set up virtual server port forwarding for the TV. I assigned one port for the TCP and another for the UDP. I know many of you might not be able to do this but this can also be accomplished by assigning your device to the DMZ setting in your router.
As of this writing I haven't experienced and problems. Hopefully this cures the frustrating issues many of us have been experiencing.

G.Mingolelli - I would not begin to know how to do that in my wi-fi system but I guess it can be learned. However I spent 1 hour 45 minutes one the phone today with Samsung Support. They remote-managed my tv and went through extensive testing and resetting and rebooting. At the end, nothing was fixed in the DTV Stream app. Still freezes intermittently (and frequently) or completely blacks out (video and audio) and then pops back on after 15 to 20 seconds with audio changed to "Alternative", or Spanish, requiring me to manually pause the movie and go into the DTV settings and switch back to Default audio (English). Samsung verified twice that they DO NOT OWN nor technically manage the DTV Stream app. They only license the app from DTV. Problems with the app must be directed at DTV Support. Samsung Support gave me a case number to provide to DTV in case DTV tries to blame Samsung. This is getting pretty frustrating.

It's a problem with the Samsung App. Hopefully DirecTV and Samsung will issue an update soon.

Same issue. I have narrowed it down that it's the app. I am a Network Engineer and eliminated the tv, router, and everything else that would be on the consumer side or responsibility. This issue is strictly AT&T's issue which they need to resolve or credit thier subscribers. This issue is not only limited to HBO. This happens on all channels.

Dway, yes I am seeing the frequent 10 second total blackout occur on more DTV Stream channels. Fortunately the language switching doesn’t happen on all of the channels that I watch. Today I called the local TV store where I bought the 55 inch tv. They are going to call Samsung on Monday. They sell only Samsung brand televisions. We shall see what they find out, if anything.

I'm also having all these problems: intermittent buffering blackouts, freezing, HBO switching to Spanish (right in the middle of Succession!). I called Direct TV Streaming and they had me delete/uninstall their app and reinstall. I'm still having problems though not as frequently. It seems to me that ATT/Direct TV Streaming has a very unstable and fragile app - not worth the fees they are charging. I'm about ready to terminate them. (I have a brand new Samsung QA60 70in TV...)

Is DIRECTV going to give us any credit for the crappy service we’re receiving. I mean what’s up with that? I don’t speak Spanish.
