I am getting an error message on ESPN app while trying to sign in with DIRECTV stream. Can not watch sec plus.

I have deleted the ESPN app many times.   Signed in to ESPN.  When I try to sign in to tv provider and choose DIRECTV stream i get an error message.

It says:

BAD REQUEST

The Access Manager WebSEAL server received an invalid HTTP request.

Explanation

Possible causes for this message include:

Incompatibility between the browser and the server

   A problem with the browser.

I never had this problem with DIRECTV satellite.   Using the same iPad and same browser.

Thanks for any help

Try in a private/incognito browser to see if that would work.

Also ensure a VPN, ad-blockers, or other possible antivirus software isn’t turned on.

Thus far, nothing is working.   I do believe DIRECTV stream supports SEC+.  Ugh, this frustrating

But would I still get an error message trying to sign in?  Seems like it would tell me, I could not sign in.

Thank you for all your help.  I have tried cell phone, iPad, smart tv…it is the same issue.   I am at a loss.

You don't need an ESPN+ subscription.

You said you used to be with Dtv Satellite. Are you sure you are choosing Directv Stream as the provider. ---Do you have different credential with Dtv Stream vs Satellite--or is it the same email?

I have DIRECTV STREAM, and I can watch SEC+ content at espn.com using DIRECTV STREAM as a TV provider - @Shep1010, you said you didn't have this issue with Satellite

  • by any chance, does your Satellite user is the same as the STREAM user? some people have reported conflicts with accounts if this is the case
  • Also, when did this problem start? Is it your first time having it (first time using STREAM credentials at esp.com?)

Thank you @GTyz …I have used different log in’s for satellite and stream.  I did find out on my iPhone and iPad satellite was listed as my tv provider instead of stream.   I can log on but it still won’t play a video/sec+.  It spins and will not play.

It started after I got stream.

So, are you trying to log in to the Dtv Stream website on your Ipad using a browser? Or an app on Ipad? If you are using a browser, have you tried clearing cache/cookies? And what browser are you trying to use?

Thank you @Ludwick577 …I am using the espn app.  Have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times.   Used a variety of browsers from chrome, safari, DuckDuckGo.   I have cleaned the cache, cookies, etc.

Thank you

I’ve found the fix. Not fun, but not impossible either.

go into your settings for your DIRECTV stream box. Do full, hard, factory reset.

once it comes back online, ensure it’s up to date. Then log back into your directtv steam account. Then once it loads, go log back into your google play account. Then go and reinstall the ESPN app. Then log back into your ESPN and ESPN+ accounts.

This worked for me after it wouldn’t work on a particular box and being on hold with a useless “customer service” rep.

ESPN and AT&T, you you’re looking for a n experienced tech and veteran, let me know.
