Intermittent black screen
Super annoying! In the middle of a show, the screen goes black for about 5 seconds. This happens about every 5 minutes. Tried all the uninstall/reinstall, power off & on, log out & in, etc etc to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?
I have a Samsung "Smart" TV but this does not happen with any of the other 25 apps I have. This is so problematic if it doesn't get solved soon I'm definitely unsubscribing. Not worth the hassle with multiple other apps out there to use that cost the same or less!

I recommend everyone start contacting their State's Attorney General's Office. If the case builds enough, it's then get federal backing.
There isn't a company in the World that can survive on its Failures and lack of Service. All it takes is another platform to specifically attack the desirable characteristics of DTV Stream and the rest will be history.

Let us know how that works out for you, @g_mingolelli
I'm guessing State Attorneys have more important issues to deal with.

Regardless of their (State Attorneys) other issues @litzdog911
DTV Stream is in breach of its consumer contract. Since they are also FCC licensed I believer other consumer breaches are in order as well.

You just cant let it go, huh? Keep paying those monthly bills when you could have just bought an external device and enjoyed the service.

There are sheep and then there are individuals that speak if inequities that need to be addressed.
The sheep in this case are those who lack the backbone to shake things up.

This just started happening to me today, on 2 yo Samsung smart tv using a DTV streaming device via the hdmi port. Mine is like a 1 second black screen every 2 minutes. Gigabit fiber hard wired connection. Lovely.

@Jeff357
Download the Samsung App and login to your DTV-S account and see how that works.

I had the problem when I used the browser on the computer attached to the TV. I then tried an Amazon Fire Stick with the Directv Steam app and the problem has totally gone away. Great pic, no lag, noblack screen

Everything works great except when run through the streaming device. They must have introduced a bug in some recent update of the software embedded in that device. Strangely, and only occasionally, the blackout is accompanied by an audible popping noise. I guess I will figure out how to ask for a replacement device.

i installed the DIRECTV streaming app and there is no problem evident when using that. It has to be the device. And given it is happening to a bunch of us, dollars for donuts it is a bad update to the software embedded in the device. I guess they were so busy figuring out how to get those of us paying $10 a month for “unlimited Dvr” to cancel that they glitched the update. Trying to continue to be a happy dtv customer but they’re not making it easy.

I have to reverse course here. I tried one last thing (probably unique to me) and it turned out to work. I had my Stream device running through an HDMI switch and when I deleted that from the equation (plugging the streaming device directly into the HDMI connected to the Samsung TV) the problem ceased. Not sure if it is a crummy/bad HDMI cable or the HDMI triple switch itself, but I went back and forth just to be sure and the black screen was/is not happening when I avoid the switch. Why this just started in the last few weeks (when I have been running the same setup since I went over to Stream in early December) is beyond me. But it seems the device is not at fault in my case.

@Jeff357 Is that happening on more than 1 channel and have you tried a different hdmi cable and/or hdmi input? If it's a software update glitch they come out with new updates pretty frequently....maybe once ever 10 days or so

it was happening on all channels and now seems cure on all channels. In essence, I did change out the hdmi cable by bypassing the hdmi cable that went to the switch and deleting the switch. Since it is easy to go back, I plan to try once in a while in the future (since there was a reason for inserting the hdmi triplex switch in the first place) but I can no longer blame it on the physical DIRECTV Stream device.
