Issues fast forwarding and rewinding DVR recordings on Chromecast 4K w/ Google TV device

It seems there is a bug with the way the DirectTV Stream app for Google Chromecast 4k w/ Google TV is programmed for the fast forwarding and rewind function of DVR recordings. 

On a Roku Streaming Stick 4K device, the remote has dedicated fast forward and rewind buttons.

These buttons will fast forward or rewind through a DVR recording, a preview is displayed on the screen and you can increase or decrease the speed of fast forward/rewinding up to 4x speed to get where you want to be in a recording. 

On a Google Chromecast 4k w/ Google TV device, the remote does not have dedicated fast forward or rewind buttons.

There is a 4 way directional pad in the center of the remote.

When in a DVR recording, there is no option to fast forward or rewind with a preview up to 4x speed.

You can press left and right on the D-Pad which will fast forward or rewind, but it will go in 30 second increments.  You can keep pressing the buttons and it will keep doubling how many seconds are being skipped, but it seems once you hit 270 seconds, the functionality freezes. 

Why doesn't the Google TV app have the same functionality as Roku where you can choose the speed of rewinding and fast forwarding with a preview displayed?

I am on version 4.0.44.38732 of the app, uninstalling and reinstalling has made no difference.
