Local channels after a move

Moved from Michigan to Florida, for 6 months, spent hours on the internet, half hour plus each talking to both Fire Stick tech and D Stream tech. Both claim things are good on their end. After several days, still can’t get my local ABC CBS FOX and CBS for local news.

Did you change your billing zip code on your account and your credit card account?

Yes, both, no change. It shouldn’t have to be this hard for a situation that must happen every day.

You sure you changed your account to reflect a CC defined to your new address in Florida? Does your mobile device (phone, tablet. or PC) see the new location?

@Ludwick577 That zip code setting has nothing to do Direct Stream. It's used for Amazon.

When you access Dtv Stream via their website what locals are on there?

When I go on the Dstream app on my IPad, the local channels are correct, they are from my area in Florida.

So this is obviously your firestick. Maybe you should do a factory reset on your firestick and start over then re-install your dtv stream app on it. Are you using the same internet on your Ipad and Firestick?

Apple devices keep up with cell towers and WifI locations used and store these locations into a database. When you use the device it checks the database for location. Your streaming device (Roku, Fire Stick, PC etc) uses your IP address for device location. By default you will receive your home based locals if your location can not be identified.

Do over. I called up Directv Dstream and had them change my Michigan billing address to my Florida address where I’m staying. She assured me that this would allow me to receive my local channels here in Florida, but that it would take 24 hours. I feel pretty confident about this.
