Losing home connection due to IP address changing
I constantly lose home connection because I do not have an IP connection that is static....Direct tv stream needs to remove the limit of setting home to only 4 times per year....I lose my connection daily with direct stream only due to this limit set by direct stream...any IP for my area does not offer static IP address.'

Not going to happen. They have always used IP address for location. You need to get a static address from your provider or change provider.

Greetings,
I recently suffered a power outage resulting in a IP address change and subsequent 3-device stream limitation. Navigating to System, Preferences, 'Set New Home Location'
the system states: "Updated 3 of 4 times in the last 12 months". I am fearful that I will exceed the 4 max changes. What happens then? Is there a way to circumvent this for future outages? Secondly, if I change the location option, will that apply to all devices? I will contact my ISP to inquire about a static ISP.
I've learned alot from your excellent posts and greatly appreciate your efforts.

If you exceed the limit, then the last one becomes your home base location until the reset of the counter. In some case, support may be able to reset the counter. Since your IP appears to be changing frequently on resets, you might need to inquire about obtaining a static IP address. Additionally, I have heard of several subscribers that have not changed their location, but instead just power down their modem multiple times until it finally found the right location.
