Need Profiles on Stream

This would be a huge improvement with relatively little amount of change needed. With families all using this product, profiles makes a huge difference. Being able to favorite your own channels, have separate dvr recordings etc would be very helpful. It wouldn’t cause any more usage, just more efficient.  Please, please, please!

Please call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and say to the robot that you are calling about the product ‘DIRECTV STREAM’ and not the traditional satellite service called just ‘DIRECTV.’ That way, you can tell an agent about your recommendation and perhaps gather a group of enough people in support of your idea. As this is a public forum, we are customers just like you so we wouldn’t be able to pass on the idea to the right department or get it published if that.

Been requested for years with no results. Doubt if it will happen in the near future. One of the reasons for not offering is to prevent subscribers from sharing service. With one account you are likely not to share the credentials with others.

I know this would be an awesome improvement all we can do is keep requesting customer service for it!  Either way, I would love it but I don't need it!

Wonder why your post doesn't receive more likes. Anyone that responds to this type of post would like to see profiles added to the app. I believe Dstream is watching and their coders are working on it.

@chasf00 Unlike "real" social media, I don't think likes are that common here. 

But certainly many people have expressed interest in profiles (of various types) being added to the service pretty much since the start (over 5 years ago).  There was a (quite vague) statement at an AT&T marketing presentation 4 years or more ago that indicated profiles were coming - but nothing happened.

And you are more optimistic than I (and I've been here almost since the start) that they are watching the forums and that they are actually working on profiles.  But under DirecTV more things have happened than did under AT&T, so we can hope...

I find it very annoying that multiple profiles are not available. I the tv I use frequently, favorites would be different as well as last channel watched. Another improvement would be to type in channel number rather than go to guide.

It has been requested many times in the past. Offering profiles opens up video sharing to unpaid customers. By not offering profiles, customers are reluctant to share credentials.

Account sharing is an issue for DTV, not for the users.  The benefits to the users of profiles are large enough that I personally think it is incumbent on DTV to come up with a workable profile scheme, even if it has some limitations in order to meet their need to control sharing.  Given they way they implement "home" vs "away", account sharing with third parties isn't likely to be a huge issue anyway.

Here's another vote for multiple profiles, as wife and I have completely different viewing tastes - eg. soaps & rom-com vs. sports & drama! She could have her channels and recordings, and I mine. With D'Sat we have 2 recorders, issue solved, plus we can share rec's if we need to! Main reason to not go to D'Stream for us ($Choice ~same at $100 with 'loyalty' discounts).

Here's another vote for multiple profiles, as wife and I have completely different viewing tastes.  She is at the point where she regrets signing up for this.

You can vote all you want, but nothing will happen from this user based forum. Profiles have been requested for years with nothing happening. Suggest you contact a support rep by Twitter or Facebook and voice your request.
