Typically, channels are added only during contract negotiations, as they come with a cost that the TV provider has to pay for.

ESPN had this same thing happen with ESPN2, ESPNU and probably other channels.

When was the last time DirecTV had a contract negotiation with Comcast for their NBC channels? Go back to then and add two or three years since contracts are usually for that amount of time.

Would it be easier to add since Comcast spun off a lot of their NBC channels into Versant? It's anyone's guess.
