Picture Quality on Basketball Games is Blurry

I have a new Bravia 5 and I'm running both YTTV and DTV Stream trying to figure out which one I want to use going forward.

I much prefer the DTV Stream interface but unless the broadcast is in 4k the picture quality I get on basketball games is blurry on DTV Stream compared to the sharp resolution I get on YTTV.

All other shows seem fine, sometimes even superior to YTTV, I only get the motion blurriness on basketball games and only on certain networks. Is there a way to fix this? I've adjusted the motion settings, sharpness and contrast on my TV but nothing seems to work. Again, I would much prefer to go with DTV Stream but unless I can get better picture quality I'm going to have to go with YTTV.

Thanks for your feedback, @Bhfromme. Picture quality between channels may very due to the difference between Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) broadcasts, as well as how each network manages its signal.

Here are some tips to improve picture quality while streaming content:

- Ensure your internet speed is at least 24-25 Mbps for HD/4K streaming. Test your speed and use a wired Ethernet connection for stability.
- Restart your device and router by unplugging them for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
- Check HDMI cables and ports, using HDMI 2.0 or higher, and try different ports if needed.
- Adjust TV settings for sports: enable "Enhanced" or "Full UHD Color" mode on the streaming HDMI port, set to 4K resolution, enable HDR, and set to "Match Frame Rate" or "Match Dynamic Range."
- Ensure your TV and app are updated.
- Close and reopen the app, or uninstall and reinstall if issues persist.
- Use default settings and avoid VPNs or custom DNS for best compatibility.

Not sure what is meant by check HDMI cable. My Roku 4k streaming stick has no HDMI cable whatsoever.

This is common with fast-moving sports broadcasts.  The digital video encoders used for live broadcasts are not always very good at handling fast action.

Thanks for clarifying your device. Please ensure the stick is fully inserted into the HDMI port, try a different port if possible, and make sure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input. Rizza, DIRECTV Community Team
